Man's best friend. Loyalty. Unconditional love. These are just some of the things that come to mind when I think of the description of what a dog is. So many times we always seem to remember the human soldiers but not until recently have we really brought attention to the four legged soldiers that are such an integral part of helping securing the freedom and opportunities that we have here in the US. Even though they may be of different species, that doesn't signify that their life or the work they do has lesser value. Just think of all the "accidents" they have prevented just by using their nose and their keen sense of intuition. We have to give credit where credit is due as this is a unique team - man and dog working together to make things better.
With that mentioned,  I was excited to speak about this human/animal bond to the students of Adelphi University and bring awareness to the special bond of a soldier and his dog. The students were amazing in writing many thank you cards to our K-9 unit and making the colorful posters. Take a peek of the work they did and be sure to see the finished results as it was doggone great!
